Hello and welcome back to another exciting year at Ravenswood School! 

We’ll be offering opportunities for membership sign up Sept 11th and Sept 20th.

For the 2010-2011 school year, the Ravenswood PTA has been refocused and simplified: our only fundraising activities will be Box Tops For Education and Target REDcard in an effort to lessen the amount of fundraisers throughout the year and to fully support the fundraising efforts of Friends of Ravenswood School (FORS).

Our mission and goals however, remain the same: to continue to strengthen our school community, provide in-school volunteer assistance to our teachers and to  support and enhance our school’s in-house fairs and events.

A large time commitment is not necessary to be a huge help to us, our kids and our school.  We do not have monthly meetings - we contact our membership via email. We have opportunities to get involved that range from doing something simple from home, working an hour or two at a special event, helping with a project of any size, or going all out by chairing a committee.  Any time at all you have to offer is greatly appreciated.

Our volunteer efforts and fundraising dollars will be directed toward supporting and enhancing our school’s in-house fairs and events by providing incentives, prizes, trophies, decorations, and speakers; especially focusing on     enhancing our academic fairs and events including Spelling Bee, Science Fair and grade-level Awards Ceremonies.  We also hope to provide upgraded memory cards for the student computers in each classroom.

However, we can’t do this without your membership!  Membership in Ravenswood PTA is $5 annually ($3.75 of which goes to Illinois and National PTA).  Illinois and National PTA umbrella over our organization and offer our members benefits including special savings and exclusive discounts at places like T-Mobile and Southwest Airlines.

Parent and Teacher involvement in critical to our success.  We thank you for your support and look forward to a wonderful 2010-2011 school  year.

Ravenswood PTA has formed a formal partnership with Chase Park and is a member of both the Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and the NorthCenter Chamber of Commerce.

PTA membership is $5 annually.  Why?  National & Illinois PTA membership costs us $3.75 per member.  We use the remaining $1.25 to keep us up and running (paper, ink, checks, insurance, etc.), not to make a profit.  We are a non-profit 501(c)3.   

To become a Ravenswood PTA Member, simply print out a Membership Form. (It's a 3-up document, we only need one form).  Place it with $5 in an envelope (checks can be made payable to Ravenswood PTA) and mail it with a self-addressed stamped envelope to Ravenswood PTA c/o Ravenswood School, 4332 N. Paulina, Chicago, IL 60613.  The SASE is so we can send you a coupon book and a membership card in return.  Along with supporting our school by becoming an official member, this card will enable you to log in to National and Illinois PTA and receive member benefits.  You can also get a membership form in the school office or anytime we have a table set up at a fair or event at school.

To make a tax-deductible donation to Ravenswood PTA, simply click on the Donate Now button below.  You'll be redirected to a secure site through Network for Good.  Your funds will come to the Ravenswood PTA via CPS' Children's First Fund.  On the form, be sure to click "a specific CPS School" and in the "School Name" box enter Ravenswood Elementary.  Then in the 'Specify the Program' box, add Ravenswood PTA.  Lastly, simply fill in your contact info and click if you want to add the 3% transaction fee or have it deducted from your donation.  You'll get an immediate response and a tax deductible letter to follow.
