Early Childhood Education is a Top Priority at Ravenswood School.

       

The early childhood program at Ravenswood School is child-centered and play-based with a strong emphasis on literacy.  We encourage children to learn by exploring their surrounding environment.  We work hard to make the classroom environment one that is safe but stimulating, comfortable but challenging, consistent but changing, routine but flexible.

The mission of our programming is to create an engaging and comfortable environment in which all children can learn. Our goals are for all children to be exposed to exciting and wonderful learning opportunities and to help them become life-long learners and well-rounded children.  The core of the Pre-Kindergarten program includes a rich introduction to literacy and numbers.  In addition, Ravenswood Tuition-Based Pre-Kindergartners have weekly classes in Spanish, art, music, and physical education.

Pre-Kindergarten classrooms at Ravenswood are organized for different types of learning and play.  In each classroom your child will find: a Writing Center/Computer Station, Book Corner/Listening Center, Manipulative Center (sorting, counting, games, puzzles), Art Center, Science/Discovery Center (sand, water, science table), Block/Woodworking Center, Music Center, and a Dramatic Play/Dress Up Center.

Ravenswood School and our Pre-K programs foster a deep sense of appreciation and acceptance; we celebrate diversity, for it is what makes each one of us special. Our program serves children of all races, ethnicities, abilities, religions, family make-up, and the list continues. We value and love all children!
