Ravenswood Elementary is also recognized as one of the top 25% of all Chicago Public Schools including all magnet, magnet cluster, special enrollment, and high schools in Chicago. This recognition led to our being designated as an Autonomous Management and Performance School (AMPS). Please visit CPS's Autonomously Managed Performance Schools and CPS Rewards to learn more about this honor. We are the 2006-2007 Winner of the State of Illinois' Spotlight Schools Award for High Student Achievement and the 2006 Winner of the Academic Improvement Award of the Illiniois Honor Schools.
At Ravenswood School, an award-winning faculty and a caring community of parents work together to create a safe, nurturing, high quality learning environment in which our students are able to flourish, both artistically and academically. Ravenswood fosters the academic, social and emotional growth of our students by providing them with many diverse learning opportunities and programs throughout the year.
Ravenswood School is located at the corner of Montrose Avenue and Paulina Street. School hours are from 8:55 a.m. to 2:45 p.m. Our Before-School programming begins at 7:30 a.m. and our After-School programming continues until 6:00 p.m. Check our Before & After School page for more information on these ever expanding programs.
We offer a full-day kindergarten program, which follows the regular school day of 8:55 to 2:45 p.m. Currently, we do not offer a part-time kindergarten program, however there is a possibility that a half-day option could be added if interest dictates. Please email our Principal, Heather Connolly if you are interested in this option for your family. For information on our Pre-K programs, please see our Pre-K page. Both our Kindergartners and our Pre-K students have the same Before & After School options as well as Summer Camp availalable to them!
Our current enrollment is 480 students in our Preschool For All program through 8th Grade with a maximum capacity of 500. (These figures do not include Tuition Based Pre-K). The maximum capacity figure is self imposed. Even though our school can physically hold more students, our Principal is adamant that class sizes will remain at well regulated levels.
Our Mascot is the Ravenswood Ram.
Our School Colors are Red & White
